A retired Peoria Police officer reportedly points a gun towards a Pekin Police officer while pulled over during a traffic stop Friday. The officer was able to take the handgun away from the suspect. 60 year old Mark Chittick was arrested for DUI, unlawful use of a weapon during a traffic stop, fleeing and eluding police and improper lane usage. Chittick was spotted by police on the report of a possible DUI driver at 2nd Street at Ann Eliza Street. The Pekin officer tried to pull the suspect over, but Chittick attempted to elude police crossing the Pekin bridge on Route 9 at speeds up to 85 miles per hour. Chittick was finally stopped on route 9 near U-S 24, when reports say he reached for the gun. He was taken into custody and transported to Tazewell County Jail.
