Hundreds turned out for the funeral Wednesday for Lance Corporal Jordan Bastean of Pekin and thousands more lined the streets to show support as the procession took him the cemetery. Bastean was killed in Afghanistan October 23rd. His friend Jacob Whited tells WEEK News 25 Bastean will be remembered as a kind and respectful person.
"Jordan was a very giving and loving person," said Whited. "He didn't judge people by what grade they were in or what group they hung out with. If you needed help he'd be there to help you. If you showed respect to him he showed respect to you."
The 19 year old was a 2010 graduate of Pekin Community High School. The Patriot Guard escorted the funeral procession past the school in the way from First Baptist Church to Prairie Haven Cemetery.
