The Federal Trade Commission is saying no to plans for the affiliation between OSF Healthcare System and Rockford Health System. The FTC has requested a preliminary injunction to stop the affiliation from moving ahead in 2012. Officials from OSF Healthcare and Rockford Health System say they'll go to court to challenge the FTC's request. The agencies argue combining two of Rockford's three health care systems into one will promote healthy competition within the marketplace. Now, OSF Healthcare officials say the administrative and court process could take up to two years to complete.
