The EDC For Central Illinois is assisting Peoria County's effort to lure a new Caterpillar plant to the area. EDC President Vickie Clark confirmed a proposal is being finalized by Peoria County, requesting CAT build it's new North American Plant here. Big Yellow has been looking for sites after previously announcing they were moving about 1,000 production jobs from Japan back to this continent.
Clark says her staff's job is to help any public entity, in this case Peoria County, with all resources at it's disposal. Clark says there's demographic information, creative alternatives and innovative solutions to give the region a competitive advantage when submitting a bid.
Caterpillar employs more of it's people in Illinois than any other state or country. CAT is expected to announce where it will build the plant either by the end of the year or early next year.
