You may not have heard of anyone having the flu, yet...but flu season is getting started.
Dr. Brian Curtis, with OSF St. Francis Medical Center, says the flu shot last year had about 50 to 60-percent success in preventing someone from getting the flu.
Curtis says the last couple of years OSF has seen a jump in flu cases, because fewer people are getting their immunizations including the flu shot. Not getting the flu shot not only gives you a
higher risk of getting the flu, but also increases the risk to children, family, and co-workers.
Besides getting a flu shot, Dr. Curtis says washing your hands consistantly and cleaning shared surfaces, eating right, and getting reast are the best ways to stay healthy.
