The President and CEO of UnityPoint Health-Methodist/Proctor is excited about changes coming to her hospitals.
Last week, a $10-million enhancement project was announced for UnityPoint Health-Methodist that includes surface parking, a new atrium entrance for outpatient surgery and a new exterior facing I-74.
"This is a very visible campus," Debbie Simon tells 1470 & 100.3 WMBD. "We have lots of people coming to Peoria to decide if they want to live, stay and work here. We want to insure we're attractive because health care is important to this community."
But, that's not all. Simon says the hospital will tear down the parking deck along Hamilton Blvd. adjacent to the atrium. In its place will be more surface parking and green space.
"We believe with the parking we're providing with the new lot and the added spaces on this site, this campus becomes much more accessible," explains Simon.
Simon says more changes are coming inside, too, well as she works to renovate older parts of the hospital. Proctor isn't being forgotten, though, in the plan for renovations.
"One thing downtown doesn't have much of, in terms of the hospitals, is land," Simon says. "When you look at Proctor, there's land out there."
Simon says she is also working to expand the hospital's physician network.
