A visible change is already in place at the end of Walnut Street in Chillicothe, a reflective strip has been painted across the road.
It will be the last of many warnings leading to the dead end at the Illinois River.
Monday night, the Chillicothe City Council unanimously approved about $3,500 worth of safety improvements to Walnut Street.
It's all an effort to prevent accidents, like the one that claimed the life of Julie Peters.
Chillicothe Mayor Doug Crew tells News Partner News 25 two stop signs are expected to be installed Tuesday, and the remaining improvements will be in place within a few weeks.
Julie Peters's family wanted additional lighting added, but they believe these changes will make a difference.
