The Shockers hand Bradley Men's Basketball their 3rd straight loss, as #5 Wichita State (18-0, 5-0 MVC) give a 72-50 home win against Braves Tuesday night at Koch Arena.
Bradley held the Shockers to just 39.6 percent shooting from the field and only two more field goals - 21 for Wichita State compared to 19 for Bradley - but the home squad enjoyed a 29-14 advantage in free throw attempts. Bradley was within 15-14 when Omari Grier drained a 3-pointer with 8:29 remaining in the first half, but the Shockers closed the period on a 25-9 surge and never looked back.
Walt Lemon, Jr. led three Braves in double-figures with 12 points. Tyshon Pickett added 11 points and eight rebounds and Grier 10 points, but the trio shot 12-for-37 to score their 33 combined points. As a team, Bradley was 19-for-54 (.352) from the field.
Wichita State point guard Fred VanVleet turned in 22 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
The Braves now stant(6-12, 1-4) in the Valley, and will try to snap their 3-game losing streak at home Friday night when they host Southern Illinois for a 7 p.m. tip at Carver Arena. Peoria's All-America City Award will be celebrated Friday night.
