A Bradley women's basketball player is arrested on a charge of domestic battery.
Junior guard Shronda Butts, 19, is accused of hitting redshirt sophomore teammate Fantasia Vine, 20, during an incident at Vine's apartment on Fredonia around 10:15 p.m. Monday.
Vine, according to a Peoria police report, suffered injuries to her head, face, hands and shin but refused treatment.
Butts was booked in the Peoria County Jail early Tuesday morning and later released after posting 10 percent of a $1,000 bond.
Two other people were listed on the police report but were not arrested.
Bradley women's basketball head coach Michael Brooks says, "I am aware of the recent situation involving Shronda Butts. We are in the process of gathering information and I have no additional comment at this time."
Butts is the top returning scorer on this year's team. She played in all 30 games last season with 20 starts and was the second leading scorer, averaging 12.1 points per game, while leading the team in assists (108) and assists per game (3.6).
Butts scored a career-high 34 points in a double overtime loss at Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the third highest point total in school history.
