A man arrested after allegedly attempting to abduct a child is free after posting bond.
55-year-old Thomas Anthony, of Dubuque, Iowa, was released from the Tazewell County jail Tuesday on a notice to appear.
Anthony allegedly tried to lure a six-year-old boy away from his mom at a fast food restaurant in Pekin on Sunday.
He was arrested on Monday at a Walmart in Lincoln, where he allegedly approached another young boy.
Anthony was charged with disorderly conduct, and is scheduled to appear in court on September 17.
Mike Eeten, with the Pekin Police Department, says Anthony could not be charged with anything more serious because, while Anthony's alleged actions are suspicious, he never violated the letter of the law when it comes to child abduction.
The case is being reviewed by police and the State's Attorney's Office.
