Two memorial funds have been set up in honor of a beloved teacher and coach who died this week.
Accounts have been opened at CEFCU and Morton Community Bank to benefit the family of Joal Stanfield, who passed away Wednesday at the age of 34. The Lincoln Elementary School teacher and Morton High School boys tennis team coach had been in the hospital since last Saturday, when he suffered a massive cardiac emergency.
Stanfield is described by friends and loved ones as a beloved husband, father, teacher and coach, whose death is a huge loss to the community. Members of the high school tennis program held a late-night practice session in his honor the evening he died.
