400am Liquor License Decision For downtown Bar Deferred

There's no decision yet on the fate of another 400am liquor license request in the downtown bar district.  A motion to defer was approved 10-1 Tuesday night to seek more information about an application by the owners of Players Club located at 815 Southwest Adams.  The site has been a bar several times, but has a history of illegal activity.  Councilman Eric Turner, who also serves as Liquor Commissioner, detailed the many issues the property faces.

Turner says there is only one exit, even though there was confusion expressed during the council meeting as to if there was another exit.  Turner says a murder and other shooting incidents at the previous bars located there are also a concern.  The Liquor Commission recommended the council vote to deny the Class A tavern license.  More code information was also requested from staff by the council.   The matter will be delayed until the January 10th meeting.

In other business, the council voted to allow Peoria Heights to take control of property where Lagondola sits now at 700 East War Memorial Drive.  Also, seperate tax levy and special service area revenue ordinances for the East Bluff were approved.  The Council also decided to cancel it's December 27th meeting.
