PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Firefighter/Paramedics responded to the 3500 block of N Dries Ln. Saturday afternoon just before 1:30 p.m. for a report of a vehicle that went through a ravine into a creek bed.
First arriving crews found a single vehicle that went down a ravine “approximately 30-40 feet,” before coming to rest on a retaining wall next to the creek.
The driver was suffering a medical emergency in the vehicle, so crews had to use a hydraulic winch to stabilize the vehicle.
After stabilizing the vehicle, additional crews immediately started extrication of the person from the vehicle.
Crews had to use ropes and a stokes basket to remove the driver from the vehicle then up the ravine.
After the driver was safely out, patient care was transferred to AMT, and they were transported to a local hospital.
There was no report of the condition of the patient.
